What we believe

The following statements are an overview of some foundational truths that we believe. This is not an exhaustive list of beliefs or scriptures and is not intended to ever overshadow a believers need to know the Word of God, and be known by The Word of God.

1.) We believe that the Bible is God’s Word and should be the foundation of how we form our worldview and live our lives.  We believe in the daily necessity, relevance, wisdom, infallibility, incarnation, enduring nature, historical accuracy, transforming power and divine inspiration of the Word of God.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV  All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

2.) We believe there is only one true God who created all things.  He exists in three Persons:  God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit.

Genesis 1:1 ESV  In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

Deuteronomy 6:4 ESV  Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, The Lord is one.

Colossians 1:16 ESV  For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.

1 Corinthians 8:6 ESV Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.

John 14:26 ESV But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

3.) We believe that Jesus Christ is a historical fact, the promised Messiah, the Son of God, the fulness of God in human form, the fulfillment of law and prophecy, was born of a virgin, was tortured and died as the all sufficient sacrifice for the sins of mankind, was raised from the dead on the third day and witnessed by many, is now seated in power at the right hand of God, is perfect theology and example, still changes lives today, unconditionally loves you and I, and will one day return.

Isaiah 7:14 ESV  Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Romans 5:8 ESV. But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 6:4 ESV  We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

4.) We believe that we are saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ and by confessing Him as our Savior and Lord.  We believe in the sufficiency and completeness of the work of Jesus Christ on the cross.  We believe that Jesus is more than enough and belief in Him is the only way to have eternal life in heaven.  We believe that salvation is a gift paid in full by Jesus Christ who became fully man to pay the price for our sins.

Romans 5:8 ESV But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 10:9 ESV Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

John 3:16 ESV   “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

1 John 1:9 ESV  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

John 14:6 ESV  Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV  For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

John 1:14 ESV And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

5.)  We believe in living a lifestyle that pleases God as worship as we share the gospel with the world.  We believe we are called to make disciples who believe in the goodness of God and who regularly show the love of God as they live their lives.

Romans 12:1 ESV I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

Matthew 28:19-20 ESV  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

John 3:15-18 ESV That whoever believes in him may have eternal life. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

6.)  We believe in the past, present and future moves of the Holy Spirit.  We believe the Holy Spirit gives gifts to believers that are uniquely bestowed upon each individual.  We believe God speaks to believers today through the Holy Spirit and changes lives as He speaks, heals, moves in miracles, transforms, and sets people free.

John 14:26 ESV But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

Romans 12:3-8 ESV  For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.  For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith;  if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching;  the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

7.)  We believe in the importance and life-changing power of believers meeting regularly for church and fellowship.  We believe that the church should be a community of likeminded believers loving each other, supporting one another, providing accountability to one another and helping others find freedom in Christ!

Acts 2:46-47 ESV   And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

Hebrews 10:25 ESV Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

2 Corinthians 3:17 ESV Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

Church Culture Statements - Who we are as a group of believers:

We are a people who believe in the relevance of God and His Church in every day life.

Acts 17:28 NKJV “for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.”

We are a people who believe and expect the personal and regular encounter with God in the life of every believer which brings about maturity and transformation in behavior, speech and lifestyle.

We are a people that value discipling other believers in every area of life helping them to identify and discern the voice of The Lord so they can walk in obedient authority and power and bring His Kingdom to Earth.

We are a people who value the Presence of God more than the traditions of men.  If we live for the approval and applause of men, we will be crushed by their rejection and criticism.  If we live to please God alone, we trust in Him to help us reconcile and restore the most strained of relationships, and help us to walk in peace with all mankind.  (Mark 7:6-13; Galatians 1:10.)

We are a people who honor the gift of God in every believer, and empower them to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with their families, city, nation and this world.

We are a people who steward the resources of our King and His Kingdom with a generous heart giving of our time, talents, and treasure as worship and without the expectation of return.

We are a people who believe that every human life has innate, God given worth.

We are a people who believe that God appoints humble leaders to lead His Church who need prayer, support, love, and accountability just like everyone else, and yet are worthy of honor and submission.
